After our camping in the rain expedition, John and our girls decided to make a 'fort' in our family room. They used every blanket and sleeping bag to form this fort. I wish they too would have had to clean it up, I think it took me almost two hours to fold everything up and put it away. But they did have fun and played hard for a few days.

Camping in the rain
We had had plans to go camping for a really long time, yet the weather never quite works with our plans. We went camping with 3 other families, Rusty & Mandy Cook, Mike & Holly Cook and Will & Karen Summerhays familys'. I really need Mandy's pictures for this as my camera's batteries were all dead. We really did have lots of fun, but this week lots of records were set in HI as the coldest weather ever.... I guess that's what you get when so many people from Utah move here.
The girls had lots of fun and we stayed dry in our tent, not all families did :) :) :) I think Mike said that his rain gauge showed we got 3/4 inch of rain during the night. We did have to cancel our Saturday hike and just headed home after breakfast, but John did get to use his new grill for the first time, he got it for Father's Day last year!

Hailey Birthday Party
Hailey is 6 years old now!
She had such a fun birthday! She was able to have a party with a blow up slide and lots of friends splashing around. Her parties theme was "surfs up" from the new movie and the kids loved the beach boys music I had playing in the background.

Alyssa's 4th Birthday
We've just had a birthday party!!!
For a big 4 year old, we had lots of fun! First we started the day off at preschool by going to the National Botanical Garden here on Kauai. The kids had lots of fun looking at different plants and their seeds. They had an educational tour that was created just for preschoolers by their department, it was the perfect tour for them.
After preschool all the kids came back to our house for a fun pool party! They had corndogs and cheetos in the backyard, then splashed around in our pool for the next hour. We were really lucky that the weather was so nice because the day before it was cloudy and rainy all day and today is the same. We had a nice family party that night and she had her favorite Shrimp Scampi for supper (at her request). Alyssa then got to run around the house for a scavenger hunt finding her birthday presents. She absolutely loved her rollar skates that Abby gave her.
