Baptism Pictures

In two weeks Alyssa will be turning 8 and getting baptised.  We wanted some cute pictures to be setting around at her baptism of her and so last week we drove up to bridal veil falls and I took pictures of Alyssa at random spots around there.  I know I'm not a professional, but I think some of these pictures of her really turned out cute.

Too much light in this picture, but it was still cute!

We finally made it to kauai!!!

After setting in the airport for one whole day and then having our flight cancelled, we made it out one day late.  Our girls were even more excited than we were to make this trip, wanting so badly to see all of their long lost friends that they left behind when we moved.  At the top of their list was these little Cook girls, Kyleigh and Kaitlyn.  But, we can't forget the first person Hailey saw, Kevin Peterson, as he tackled her to the ground to give her a hug.   I think they were both so embarrased by that, that they didn't talk much the rest of the night.

When we arrived in Kauai, which we are lucky we did because we were one of the last flights to arrive that day, they were in a flood watch.  It ended up that they received 35 inches of water on the North Shore that week we were there.  There was flooding everywhere and we were able to go to the beach a whole two times and once we about froze there.

So while we didn't get to spend our vacation hiking and beaching as we planned, we did get to spend lots of time with our friends there.  We stayed the first few days with Rusty and Mandie Cook and then the final few days with Dale and Genevieve Keep.  I can't say which part of the trip I enjoyed more, because they were both wonderful hosts and we love each of their families so much!

While there we also had a murder mystery date night.  Lets just say it was so funny.  I don't know what was the best, Mandie (a bikini model) with the balloons, Dawn who is always the life of the party, Holly acting out the rich heiress, Rusty the forgotten Hawaiian chief, Jeff the crazy surfer dude, or Mike (what was he?)  John and I didn't have room to bring costumes and so I was just a pro woman golfer and John was something funny that I can't remember.  Lets just say that we had tons of fun doing this and the food was awesome, Thanks Mandie!!!

Airport fun

Right now we are sitting in the las Vegas airport waiting for our flight that was to leave 1 hour ago. The kids are bored, John is grouchy and I am glad I brought a good book. They tell us we will be advised at 2 pm but the next scheduled leave is 2 am. I am happy about one thing, my dear sweet Macey is not with us. I really can't imagine 7 hours in the airport before a 2000 mile flight with her.

Well, we set the airport all day, and I mean all day. As I said above we were suppose to fly to Kauai at 9 am on saturday. They Gave our plane away to another group of People at 8:40 am and finally at 4:40 pm our flight was cancelled and rescheduled for 11 am on Sunday. By 5:3 pm we had got our luggage back and had asked John's brother Eric if he could please pick us up. They would have put s up and fed s at the excaliber there on the strip, but my kids on the strip... Not something I wanted! By time we left we had been at the airport 11 hours on Saturday.

Sunday morning everything seemed to go well, our flight went as scheduled and these little girls were just so excited to get to Kauai to see the Cook family and their many other friends. We landed in Kauai at 5:10 and kauai's flash flood warning ended at 5:45. Looks like we picked a great time to come! Our friends were all waiting for us at the peterson's house where we had a wonderful dinner. Thanks everyone!

Testing the iPhone

I just downloaded this new app on my iPhone for blogger. I wanted it so I could blog a little about our trip and publish pictures as we go so... Just testing it out. Here are a couple of my girls today, we'll see where these pictures en up in the blog

And then after the pictures are added go into safari on the phone and I can put the words anywhere instead of just at the top. This will work great!

Ready or not

Everywhere I go, friends keep asking if I'm ready to leave on our big vacation? A week ago, it was a definate yes. But as time draws nearer and I think about leaving my sweet little Macey home, I'm not so sure. At least I do know that she will draw me home and make me need to come back to this frigid winter weather. Others have asked why we are not taking her with us, well the rest of us a flying for a total of $70, thanks to frequent flier miles and there wasn't enough for another ticket. That's an excuse though. While living in Kauai, this pitiful stroller went through at least 50 airport terminals and had so much sand from the beach that I had to clean out. I truthfully just could not bear having to take it back! Plus we would have to deal with naps, problems with going on our planned hikes, getting a bigger rental car and the list goes on. I do want to say thank you so much to those that are keeping my baby (she's two now so not so much a baby) while we are gone for the next 10 days!

Today I will get ready and though I have lots to do, it'll get done so that tomorrow we will be off. I do want to give a special thanks to Mandie & Rusty Cook and Dale & Genevieve Keep for letting us slip up our time and stay with them. Mandie & Rusty have a moving container come to park in front of their house 2 weeks after we leave, so this is so nice of them to make the time for us! Mandie wants to know what we want to do all week.... I don't know....I've seen it all....I think I just want to chilax on the warm sand. Problem is while my girls didn't turn back to having snow white's skin as soon as we moved back to Utah I did, and while they never burnt bad, I do. That reminds me I need to pack the sunscreen.
