Abby's Big Day

We have had one excited little girl for the past few weeks!  She made a calendar at home depot kids whatever, the beginning of January.  This calendar is setting right next to her bed and she set it on January 24th, her birthday.  From there she went on to let each of us know all month how many days it was until her birthday.  Then, after her birthday she had a countdown to her next birthday (her friends birthday party)

For her birthday we had Grandpa, Grandma, and her cousins, Jennifer, Ashlee, and Tyler over for dinner and gifts.  Abby and Macey love when their cousins come over.  Macey has something with Tyler, I'm not sure why, but whenever he comes over she has to set on his lap.  She just loves him.  I don't know if she wants to do this because he's Brooke's big brother and she loves Brooke, but anyhow Thank You Tyler for letting her do this!

Abby is just a typical kid and the highlight of her birthday is opening up her gifts.

She loved the books, clothes and toys she got for her birthday.  Her favorite gift this year was the glow pillow pet.  I really had to search through a lot of different stores for this!  Apparently after Christmas they got rid of them all.

My day was crazy and so I ended up buying a cake for her at the grocery store, bad bad mommy.  Yet I should say I was a good mom to get everything else done during the day and still pulling a party together.

The week of Abby's birthday was a little crazy.  (Well, who am I kidding, all my weeks are getting crazier as my kids get older.) It is her year to have a friend birthday party and so she has really be driving me on the fact that I throw her a fun party.  She came up with a list of 13 girls and has probably handed it to me 10 times during the month, making sure that I knew she WAS having a party.  I finally bought some cheap invitations from the grocery store but there was only 10 in a package so I only let her invite 10 girls.  Whatever happened to the creative mom that makes the invites and decorates everything so fun?   It just didn't happen this year.

Tuesday she and eight little 6-7 year olds, invaded my quiet home.  Well, sometimes I may wish it was quiet, but truly I love the loud laughters all these little girls bring with them.   They had fun with glow in the dark necklace ring tosses, bubble gum balloon pops, rainbow twist nail polish fun, bracelet bingo and

Mustache mania photo booths!

Abby had a great time and thanks to her big sisters, Hailey and Alyssa, and her Grandma, the party was a hit.

They had fun cupcakes and, at Abbys request, strawberry milk shakes!

If you notice, for Abby's birthday she wasn't missing any teeth.  She has lost her bottom two front teeth, but she hadn't lost any of her top teeth.  Well for her "big" party she was missing that front tooth, still our cute little ABBY!

It's a Bike Day

Abby has been avoiding the topic of daddy saying she needs to learn how to ride her bike!  Finally this weekend she gave in and gave it a try.

John said she needs lots of practice and planned to assist her again the next day, well.... she practiced alone all day while he was at work.  And, tada she is an avid bike rider now!!!

Kindergarten

This morning as Abby got ready for school and I was fixing her hair , I realized this is her last week of kindergarten.  When I picked her up today just before lunch she was bring home all her journals.  I opened it up to one page and this is what it said: "I love my mom because she kisses me and hugs me, and tucks me in to bed and reads me a story"

She held me hand as we walked home and I realized how kindergarten age is my  favorite of all.  They're so fun and still show so much love to everyone around them, plus I'm still her favorite person!

We ate lunch today on the porch, just me and my little side kicks.  Now they're off to play around the yard.

Now this sweet little one might be cute but she's at that stubborn age, I keep hoping will pass.  This morning she went to a friends house and I missed having her continuously asking questions.  What a fun age.

Snow snow go away!

Well I said it and it did go away but look at what we got before it went away!
They first set of snow was really wet and good for making snowmen but after that it was powder and good for sledding/skiing.

Here is our house!

Abby likes to play in this snow more than anyone, but I don't blame her..... she makes such a cute snow angel!

I don't play in the snow to much, it's just to cold!!!

Macey likes to be outside no matter what the weather and well frankly I like her to be outside.  She makes a mess wherever she is and I would prefer that the mess is outside!

So when this snow went away, we turned into an icebox! It's been so cold for the last few weeks (my moms had a low of about -35 at night and high of 20 during the day) burrrh!

Happy Happy Birthday Abby Dear

Little Miss Abby has finally turned five and she's happy about it! After saying for the last few months that she was going to be four forever and never going to kindergarten, she finally aged! You know it really made me think about how my childhood was at that age and why she wouldn't want to age. I can't remember that much of my fifth year but I do remember how excited I was to go to kindergarten, remembering the little school bus that would take me home afterwards. I remember Tara and Shauntel (and i think Carla too) from primary and how they told us later in life that as sunbeams (at 4) we would argue over who got to set by Wayne Morch in primary (because he was so cute at that age). We spent so much time at my Grandmas with Gammie and my aunt Debbie, it was definitely the time of our lives, no wonder she wanted to stay 4 forever!
Now, time must go on, but we must help her learn, grow and enjoy it to the fullest. To Abby, being a princess, is as close to perfect as she can be. She loves to dress up, dance and twirl, and act as if she were royalty. She had never had a princess party and so I decided if it was going to happen, this was the year. Jennifer and I made the cake, thanks to Julie for the great cake idea. It was actually quite easy and decorating only took about 1 1/2 hours.
We had lots of friends over and played some awesome super fun games that I found on a few others blogs and Facebook.
  • Kiss the prince while blindfolded (like pin the tail on the donkey but with lips instead of a tail) We used the beast because he needed to be kissed to turn into a prince, needless to say none of those little girls turned him into a prince.

  • Princess Aurora's freeze dance, when the music stopped they had to practice freezing

  • Find Snow White's poisionous apple

  • Pass Cindarella's shoe around the circle until midnight when it turned into an old dirty tennis shoe

  • Before any of the games though, we started out with a tea party on my nice china. It was right after school for those friends that are kindergarteners and so I thought they might need a little snack. It was lemonaide or chocolate milk with tea sandwiches and grapes, perfect for a little princess. Then the girls each got to make a crown for themselves, thank goodness for glue dots and my large collection of bling. We also had a fashion show where each princess was presented at court as she made her way down the stairs.

I think the party was a big success and the girls were all so happy to get a feather boa, big flower for their hair, and little satin gloves to complete their princess attire.
